"Well," Ecto started, staring at the herbs while he quietly considered Smiley's words. He hadn't prepared any sort of solution for this--he hadn't thought they'd find enough that he'd ever have to worry about how to carry it all back. "I... there's beech leaves that are big enough to carry them but I... I don't..." he frowned, trying to recall what kind of environment they even grew in--all he knew was that it wasn't growing here.
A bit frantic for some direction now that Smiley had pointed out his mistake, Ecto scanned the area for some, or any sign of something he could use. He tensed when he saw something, all three eyes focusing intently on a patch of tall grass nearby--the glimmers in the grass could have been fireflies just as easily if Ecto couldn't easily make out the form of a dog attached to the glimmers.
"Smiley," he whispered, instantly cowering down an stepping closer to the older dog. He knew if it came to a fight, he wouldn't be able to do anything effectively, hoping that Smiley would be able to hold her own against whoever was watching them on her own.

"I see it" she said softly, her claws shifting in the wet soil and her layers of thick dark fur suddenly standing up straight in paranoid bristles. As she sniffed and focused her vision on the bushes, Smiley's long white fangs slipped from her muzzle and the beginings of a growl started to rumble in her throat.
The scent wasn't Fawnstalker or Rotstalker, it was definitley Stray, definitley a female which made sense considering where they were. Now that she was looking closer the dog was near her size, or possibly much bigger. If it was one dog, she could handle it, but if there was an entire gang hanging around, they'd have to make a run for it.
She decided to show that she wasn't afraid and stepped forward, her milky white eyes narrowed. "We see you, Stray. Show yourself".
Discovered so soon? What a shame, but it was of no matter. Evren wasn't here to pick fights; merely to satiate her curiosity.
Head held high, the Heretic revealed herself, calmly stepping out from behind tall grass. The sun glinted off of her black coat, and her large body shimmered--quite the awesome, if fearsome sight. Her eyes met with the larger dog's, her gaze unwavering. It was clear that Evren wouldn't be so easily intimidated.
"Calm yourselves, Rotstalkers. I am not here to cause trouble. If I was, you would have seen me coming a mile away--or even sooner, in the young one's case."
She allowed herself a light chuckle as her vision lowered to look upon the younger canine with the three eyes and slimey tail, who had so dutifully been gathering a small fortune's worth of herbs almost this entire time. He must've been no younger than Evren herself when she was exiled out to these plains all those moons ago; a young tenderfoot trying to survive. Was this child a Seer in training? Well, that would explain all of the plants and the professional guard.
Ecto cowered back further against Smiley, nervous even while the Stray explained that she wasn't here to cause trouble. While he didn't like looking for the bad in others and distrusting them, it was a little hard to believe from the dog who had been hiding in the forest stalking them for who knew who long.
"What do you want, then?" he asked, trying to keep from tucking his tail between his legs--they were stronger as a pack and he had no reason to be submissive to her. "If you don't want any trouble, why were you sneaking around and watching us?"

Smiley snorted in righteous anger and kept her head low, her eyes squinted in suspicion. She was the Fighter here, and she had to be constantly on edge in case things went sour. Being on edge and fighting were just about the only two things Smiley excelled at, far from the smartest or prettiest female in the pack. But she did know it wasn't her place to interfere if Ecto wanted to talk to the Stray unless it was dangerous. That was what Seers did.
"Yeah, what he said" she spat. "Why are you being so friggin' sneaky? Gonna try to follow us back to camp"? She couldn't let that happen either, not unless this mutt wanted to join up. And she had the sneaking suspicion that wasn't the case. She had to admit, the Stray's pelt was impressvie and unlike most Strays she didn't seem weak or underfed. That meant trouble.
Evren laughed once more, a deep chuckle that arose from her throat. She briefly shook her head and sighed.
"Ah, such hostility I've come to graciously accept over the years. Tell me, don't you ever grow curious? I know I do; curious over the fact that two Rotstalkers would venture all this way just for a few sticks and leaves. But, I suppose that is about as good a reason as any."
The Heretic ploped down and gazed up towards the skies above, the gray clouds floating lazily across. Her curiosity satiated, Evren promptly yawned and nodded her head.
"Sometimes it is best to stay quiet and observe--answers tend to come easier that way, and avoiding bloodshed is never bad. Regardless, I now have my answers."
Violet hues settle back down upon the bone guardian as her ear twitches from the onslaught of gnats hovering around the pool.
"Make no mistake; these are my lands so much as they are yours, and for that very reason you shouldn't act as if you have some kind of holy power over me, Rotstalkers. I will do as I will, just as I trust you two will do the same. If you wish to leave, then I am not stopping you--and tell your alpha if it'll help you sleep better at night. I'm sure they will take kindly to such knowledge."
Ecto's fur still stood on edge while the stray spoke, up until a certain sentence--"avoiding bloodshed is never bad," and just like that, he remembered his place as Seer. While his pack would always come first, a Seer's job pertained to more than just pack requirements, knowing full well that his allegiance lied purely with protecting other dogs, no matter who they were. Smiley starting a fight with one, especially for the sake of protecting Ecto, went against everything Seers were taught to believe.
"She's right," he murmured, brushing his shoulder against hers in an effort to get her to stand down--even if he could get her to relax a little it would be a victory. "She hasn't trespassed into lands we own, she's done nothing wrong. This land is as much ours as hers. If I was a Stray faced with two pack dogs, I'd probably stand my ground and watch as well." He bit his tongue so he didn't push things too far for a dog like Smiley, a Fighter, but it could certainly be said that pack dogs weren't the most hospitable to outsiders.
Clearing his throat, Ecto stepped forward a pace, though not far from Smiley so she could protect him in case things went wrong, but far enough so he was no longer cowering in her shadow like a pup. "We don't mean you any harm, I'm sorry if we've presented ourselves in such a light. As long as you're willing to be peaceful towards us, we're happy to offer the same manner towards you." He hoped that was diplomatic enough, and that his shaky legs didn't betray how nervous he still was--recognizing herbs was certainly the easier portion of a Seer's job.

"We'll leave when we feel like it, Stray" Smiley replied in a low, firm voice, not taking her wild, focused gaze off the other dog. Without pupils, Smiley's eyes had almost a manic quality as if they were always a second away from flashing with agression. "It's not up to you to tell us".
She didn't like how easily the Tamaskan, with her beautiful shiny coat and smooth, reasonable voice managed to charm their young, impressionable Seer into letting his guard down.
Be careful, Ecto. she added in her mind. Smiley almost felt like the faithlessness of the Strays was catching, like a disease, and it could infect the core of faith among their Pack if it got too close.
No, she didn't like this. But there was little she could do about it except to keep an eye out. Seers were supposed to be able to talk to dogs outside the Pack freely, and since the Stray wasn't on their territory, all Smiley could do was watch the Tamaskan closely, just in case she tried to make a move.
